It is said that this stretch is a part of the Mumbai – Ahmadabad High-Speed Rail Corridor which is already under execution. Now this Delhi- Varanasi high-speed rail corridor will have 12 stations and the proposed station will be Delhi, Noida, Jewar Airport, Mathura, Agra, New Etawah, South Kannauj, Lucknow, Raebareli, Prayagraj, New Bhadohi, and Varanasi.

The report says the Delhi Varanasi High-Speed Rail (DVHSR) Corridor has been already submitted to the Ministry of Railways on October 29, 2020. The DVHSR corridor will connect the National Capital Territory of Delhi along with major cities like Mathura, Agra, Etawah, Lucknow, Raebareli, Praygraj, Bhadohi, Varanasi, and Ayodhya.

This 800 km Delhi to Varanasi corridor will also be connected to Ayodhya and the route this High-Speed Rail (HSR) route will connect to the forth-coming Jewar international airport.
